A Feast and a Shroud
Isaiah 25:6-9
“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a flood of rich foods for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever.”
God has planned a feast, a celebration of life and eternal victory over death. The feast is for God’s people, those who have experienced salvation from death and the penalty of sin. The feast is for those who have trusted Jesus as their Savior, who have longed for his appearing. The shroud of death currently enfolds all peoples; they cannot see the light of the glory of God in the face of Christ. It is God’s grace that punches holes in that shroud and reveals the light of Christ. We pray for Jesus, the light of the world, to be revealed in every nation, to every people, that all people would have an opportunity to enjoy the great banquet.
Lord Jesus, reveal your light, glory, and gospel to every people, nation and tongue on earth. Lift this shroud of death and set your people free – for your glory.
