Day Nine: 1 Kings 2-2 Kings 8

Israel is the Northern Kingdom and Judah the Southern Kingdom; David’s sons sit on the throne of Judah, who are loyal to the Lord for the most part but eventually become proud and arrogant.

Israel is totally rebellious against the Lord and is eventually absorbed by the Assyrian empire and surrounding tribes. Israel created its own cult so that the 9 tribes that inhabited the North would never travel to Jerusalem in the South, eliminating the risk of a loyalty or sentimentality with Judah. The result, however, is catastrophic. God judges Israel harshly by completely destroying them, their bloodlines forever lost.
