May 8 – The Purpose of The Scripture

The purpose of the Scripture is not simply to inform but to transform. God did not give His Word for intellectual engagement alone, but for spiritual formation. Scripture exists to reveal God, communicate His will, and shape the life of the believer according to His standard.

This matters because it defines how Scripture should be approached. The Word is not for casual reading or occasional reference. It is given to instruct, guide, correct, and build. Every interaction with Scripture is an opportunity for growth, alignment, and transformation.

When the purpose of the Scriptures is misunderstood, people reduce it to inspiration or tradition. It becomes something to quote rather than something to live by. This leads to knowledge without change, and exposure without growth.

DAILY EXERCISE
Read the anchor Scripture and list four things Scripture is profitable for, and reflect on how each applies to your life.

PRAYER
Father, help me to daily engage Your Word according to its true purpose. Let the Scriptures shape my life and align me with Your will. I pray for families, students, leaders, and believers across Nigeria that Your Word will produce real transformation in their lives. Lord, we ask that across nations, Your Word will not be ignored but lived out. Strengthen the Church worldwide to reflect the purpose of Scripture in daily living.

The Word of God is working in me. I am instructed, corrected, and transformed by the Scriptures daily.
