Instead the Bible reveals a God who is relentlessly closing the distance and paying the ultimate price to repair the disconnection we created in the relationship. God's number one goal with you is connection, and nothing--neither pain nor death--will prevent Him from moving toward you and responding to you with love.

• Growing up, were you taught that if you did not surrender control to the adults in your life, they would get mad, threaten to withhold love, or hurt you in some way?
• Has the threat of punishment been used by others to maintain distance from you and your mistakes?
• Why was/is God so passionate about closing the gap between Him and man? Do you really believe God chooses never to use fear and punishment to control you?
