Kong Hee: Your Life's Purpose

Jour 1 sur 5

Why Your Beliefs Matter If you were asked to sum up your life, what would you say? Would you simply say that you are comprised of organs, muscles, bones and skin? Would you just say that you live in a house constructed of nails and wood? Chances are you would not say any of these things. Instead, you would probably say that you love your family, or that you believe in equality, freedom and God. Ultimately, you define your life according to your beliefs and relationships. The most meaningful aspects of life are not things you can see, but those intangible beliefs you hold about what is true and important. These beliefs make up what is sometimes called your “worldview.” Without these beliefs, a person’s world is chaotic, confusing and aimless. Beliefs matter. They reveal to you your calling, they provide value for your decisions and they anchor your life according to what is true. As a Christian, your worldview should be shaped by the teachings of Scripture. Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Scripture teaches that the entire universe was made and is held together by the very Word of God! How important must it then be for you to understand it? Understanding what God reveals to be true in His Word is necessary for following Christ and living out the gospel. Prayer for the day: Today, ask God to help you understand the essential beliefs of the gospel. Pray that God will anchor your mind on the truth of His Word.
