Recover From Sexual Betrayal

Jour 1 sur 7

## Never Will I Leave You; Never Will I Forsake You God tells us in several places in Scripture that He will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 is a reassuring comfort for us, but especially for those who have suffered betrayal in a marriage or a committed relationship. Human beings are fallible and fall short of God's best. There is not one person on the face of the earth that will not let us down at some point in time. It may come through an unintentional letdown or outright betrayal. Have you suffered betrayal by someone you love?  Have you wondered if there was something you did to cause your loved one to act out in this way?  God tells us that we are only responsible for ourselves (Romans 14:12). We might be in a committed relationship with someone, but we are not responsible for their behavior.  So how do you begin to heal from intimate betrayal?  Forgiveness holds the key.  “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you”(Colossians 3:13).  Forgiveness isn't suggesting that you excuse the sin, offense or behavior.  It just states that we are to forgive whatever grievance we have against one another just as the Lord has forgiven us. It is possible, even in divorce, to forgive the spouse who has betrayed you, for in forgiveness you set yourself free from a prison of bitterness and anger. Prayer: Father, I come to you broken from betrayal.  Lord, I need your healing touch to consume my heart.  Help me to forgive _________ for their offense in our relationship.  Thank you,  Lord, for your willingness to fill me with your peace that surpasses all understanding.  I need you to fill me with a fresh breath of perspective and healing.  In Jesus' name, Amen.
