21-Day Devotional for Christian Writers

Jour 10 sur 21

Ultimately, God's will for your life is to be reconciled to Him and to live out your faith in obedience to Him. In terms of how that plays out in your daily life, that is up to you. One thing is clear, though, you are not alone and not expected to live your life without guidance. God has given you the Bible, His instruction for practical Christian living, to guide you along the way. Sometimes understanding God’s will in a specific situation is as simple as doing all you can with the information that you have, making a decision with that limited information, and committing the rest to God. At other times, understanding God’s will can be as simple as reading the Bible and getting a rhema word, one that seems to have been written for you and speaks into your situation as clear as day. There is, of course, the wisdom of those around us, whether that is your parents, mentor, or spiritual leaders. Through them, you can discern the will of God and make the decision that you need to make. Know this: ‘[Understanding] what the Lord’s will is’ should not be a fraught exercise, one that comes from a fear of ‘missing it’ and living under that condemnation. That is not God’s will. Remember: For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control] (2 Timothy 1:7 – AMP, italics mine).
