Glorifying Him Through And In Our Self-Care

Jour 2 sur 6

GRATITUDE Is gratitude an attitude? If you take how many times the words praise and thanks are in the Bible (over 400 times combined), I think you would say yes. Or in the least, gratitude was something that Jesus modeled for us and God commanded of us. Gratitude can be a difficult lens to see our lives through, especially when we are in the darkness of tough times. And yet, it is a rather simple shift in mindset which leads to a rather significant change in our heart, soul and spirit. What if you considered every single thing a message today? Even that annoying traffic or the water you spilled. A message and something to be grateful for. What if you spoke out loud, “I am so grateful for ________________. Thank you, Jesus.” several times today? In the least, can you start with a gratitude journal? I recommend a nightly gratitude journal before bed to all of my clients. Gratitude journals are proven to help lower stress and improve mood. I also think it is a great way to thank God for the blessings, big or little, He has brought to our lives that day. I also have had several clients tell me that their gratitude journals helped to solidify seemingly simple moments of their lives as amazing memories, simply because they documented them in their gratitude journal. Starting tonight, right before bed and before your nightly prayers, grab a journal and write one to three things you are grateful for. - Big or small. - These one to three things have to be something different each day. - Not to make you go back and look but rather to go through your entire day, start to finish, and realize there is so much to be truly grateful for. This is also a great way to wind down your brain to prepare for sleep. Write three to five sentences about why you are grateful for one of those things. - Your return is in the details. - There are many reasons to be thankful for even the smallest of gratitudes. End by saying a prayer of thanks for all these messages, for the struggles and the great stuff, as they are all gifts from above.
