They Could Not

Jour 7 sur 10

THEY COULD NOT BUT ADMIRE THIS CHAMPION. The 7th and the last saying of our Lord Jesus on the cross. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:46 These are the last words of Jesus on the cross of calvary. Finally, his sufferings were over. Father, “I have accomplished the work that you gave me to do and into your hands I commit my spirit. Father, I am coming to you”. Into your hands I commit my spirit. Psalm 31:5. David’s living words and our Lord’s dying words. William Barclay says that, Psalm 31: 5, was the prayer that every Jewish mother taught her child to say the last thing at night. Three things I want to focus: 1\.       Jesus’ last words were ‘prayer’ -      He never complained, but offered a prayer and breathed his last. 2\.       Jesus- not a victim but a victor -      We must celebrate for who Jesus is, He was never a victim but a victor. 3\.       Jesus’ spirit in Father’s hands -      ‘That one forsaken moment when His Father turned His face away’ has now changed into a glorious one. Now, the Father with his loving arms receives his son into his house, ‘The Father’s House’ John 14:2 says, “there is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live”. Take away: 1. How can you prepare yourself to go into ‘the place that Jesus is preparing for you’? Father’s house is big and His heart is bigger! 2. When we commit our lives to God, He will redeem us. 3. Let’s celebrate our God, He’s a Victor! 4. Let’s not be sad and weary at this moment. Let’s rejoice and be glad! The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man”. Luke 23: 47. THEY COULD NOT BUT ADMIRE THIS CHAMPION.
