Does your kitchen have a spice rack? A little shelf full of jars that have all kinds of fragrant and colourful powders and seeds. Spices make things smell and taste so much better. Think of cinnamon in baked apple pie. Yum!

One of the gifts the wise men gave to Jesus was a spice called myrrh. Myrrh was used throughout history as a perfume, incense or as medicine. In Bible times it was used as anointing oil or to prepare a body before it was buried. The wise men’s gift of myrrh reminds us of what was to come for Jesus. One day He would die on the cross and be buried in a tomb. The Bible says that myrrh was one of the spices used to prepare Jesus body.

The gift of myrrh reminds us that Jesus died and rose again, taking the punishment for our sin, so we can be saved. Jesus is our Saviour!
