John 3.
Chapter 3 contains one of the most well-known statements in the Bible:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17 NIV)
This is Jesus’ mission statement: He came to save the world.
John the Baptist also testifies to this in verse 36: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life…” (John 3:36 NIV)
