Passion Week: The Resurrection and the Life

PÄIVÄ 6 / 8

The Cross This is the culmination of not just Jesus’ earthly life but of the whole story written since Genesis. Ever since the moment sin entered the world, God has been revealing parts of His plan for redemption and reconciliation. Little by little, all pointing to a Promised One, a Savior, a Redeemer who would be able to free humanity and restore right standing and relationship with God once again. Rules and ceremonies, primarily performed in a building called the Temple in Jerusalem, allowed people temporary access to God before Jesus became our access. A giant veil separated where the people and priests could go and the part of the building where God’s presence would come down. At the moment Jesus breathed His last breath on earth, an earthquake occurred, and the temple veil tears from top to bottom, opening up where God’s presence had resided. There is now no separation between where God is and where we are! There is now no mediator between Him and us except Jesus Himself. The cross brings us forgiveness and freedom from sin and restores and opens a permanent relationship with God again. Jesus is available to you right now, right where you are at this very moment. He longs for a close, intimate relationship and friendship with you. When the veil tore, making His presence available to all people, He had you in mind. Is there anything in your mind you feel has separated you from God? Write out a prayer of thanksgiving and confession that those things will no longer keep you from Him.
