Passion Week: The Resurrection and the Life

PÄIVÄ 3 / 8

The Garden Jesus was fully human and fully divine at the same time. This was necessary because only a human could represent humanity in paying the cost of sin, which was death, but only someone divine (sinless) would be able to take on the world's sin and conquer sin and death. With these two natures, Jesus brings His full self to the garden to pray and connect with God, knowing what is ahead of Him. He prays to God for help, and at the end of His conversation with God, He submits His will to God’s great plan for the redemption and freeing of humanity and says, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” What is God’s will? Jesus already told us God’s plan in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” God’s will is for all people to be saved, and He sent Jesus to open up the way for us. Jesus submits the will of His humanity to God’s plan, and He, the Savior, the Redeemer, the Light, the New Way, comes for you and me. Write yourself a note to remember your value before God.
