Learn To Love

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”This verse from 1 John 4:8 NKJV says it all. If we have a heart that is selfish and filled with self-interest, it is difficult to love as Christ truly loves.

Let’s take a closer look at 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, known as the love chapter of the Bible. It is only thirteen verses in length, but filled with wisdom for Earth’s boot camp training!! Please read through the chapter, as it is a great way to do a step-by-step spiritual self-analysis.

We might think we are speaking the things of God; however, if we lack love, people see right through the façade. Have you ever seen someone who appears to be a solid Christian, filled with gifts, yet treats their spouse and children poorly? This is just an example of not having love.

Are we full of self-pride, cantankerous, hostile, and rude, yet claim to be loving? What gives pleasure: sin, or walking in His truth? Are we filled with faith and endurance?

Every gift in this life will vanish except love, so it is mandatory to be a follower of Christ to exemplify love on His behalf.

Verse 11, in essence, says, “Grow up!” Don’t remain a baby in Christ and utilize the love of Christ. Stop putting yourself first and think of others first.

In Earth’s boot camp, our eyes and minds cannot comprehend the whole picture. We should ask ourselves what kind of legacy we want to be remembered for, concerning how we lived our lives.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1Corinthians 13:13 NKJV. We can’t fool God, for He sees the heart. May He see in us agape love. How are we measuring up?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for showing us perfect love through Jesus, an example we can use to pattern our lives on this daily walk through. May our days be filled with showing love, for we live in a world that demonstrates evil and hatred. Help our light shine. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
