It's Time To Suit Up For Battle

Scripture tells us to put on armor—to suit up. Yet armor is worn in war and on the battlefield. That is correct, and one of Earth’s boot camp mandatories is the armor of God. Putting it on will help us lead a victorious life, because like it or not, we will face some spiritual battles along the path of life.

Why do we need armor? “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT

Let us look deeper at the armor:

· Belt of Truth: (Is it any wonder the first armor is to be truthful, for the opposite represents the devil, the father of lies, and liars are detestable to God) Proverbs 6:16

· Breastplate of Righteousness: (A breastplate protects the vital organ; spiritually, the shield is moral rectitude, integrity, and right standing with God). Proverbs 4:23

· Feet Ready: (prepared with the gospel of peace). Isaiah 52:7

· Shield of Faith: (Stand always believing, regardless if you can’t understand or see) Hebrews 11:1

· Helmet of Salvation: (Our brains need to be washed by salvation so we can take every wrong thought captive) 2 Corinthians 10:5

· Sword of the Spirit: (Put a stop to the enemy’s weapons aimed at you by rebuking them with God’s Word). 2 Timothy 4:2

· Prayer & Praying in the Spirit: (Prayer is full of power.) Romans 8:26

· Watching: (We can’t guard ourselves unless we are diligent in watching) Luke 21:34-36

Please take the time to look up each scripture about the pieces of armor. When we are suited up, we are ready to take on anything! Our goal is to remain standing.

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then, after the battle, you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.” Ephesians 6:13-14 NLT

Prayer: Lord, we often ask You to protect and shield us, but when we are obedient and do as You say by putting on Your armor, the door opens to that and more. May we walk daily suited up. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
