Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

DAY 30 OF 30

You are more than a conqueror.

Self-sabotaging behaviors can feel frustrating and overwhelming. I likely displayed more than most. By my teenage years, I gave up on myself and dealt with overwhelming emotions by finding ways to remain numb. This only increased my pain while strengthening unhealthy coping methods that eventually felt unbreakable.

In adulthood, I began the slow, difficult, and at times discouraging work of change. My greatest challenge—attempting to regulate emotions I’d spent decades suppressing and denying. I longed to love my husband, daughter, and friends well, but frequently found myself reacting based on how I felt in that moment rather than responding in wisdom and love. It didn’t help that I tended to over identify with my struggles rather than God’s grace.

It's one thing to read verses declaring our victory in Christ. It’s another matter to believe and learn to live in that truth. Thankfully, we’ve got the Holy Spirit, residing within. He’s greater than our most intense issues, entrenched behaviors, and overwhelming emotions and will teach us to live as empowered and transformed overcomers.

Journal prompts:

What battle feels most insurmountable in your life? How are you currently fighting this? What might it look like to depend more fully on Christ and His strength? How might viewing yourself as a victor encourage this? Prayerfully ask God to reveal your next step and grant you perseverance to keep moving toward victory.

About this Plan

Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

You’re not insufficient, overlooked, unimportant or unseen. In Christ, you are loved, chosen, called, redeemed, empowered and held close by the One who crafted your every cell, knows your every flaw, sees your potential. Unfortunately, wounds from our past can challenge our ability to view ourselves as the Lord’s beloved. May this 30-day plan remind you of who you are to Christ and in Christ, helping you live with increased confidence and joy.
