Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer SlatteryNäide

You are chosen.
As a kid, I often felt like an unwanted outsider. Sometimes I still feel that way, like when I don’t receive an invite to that girls’ get-together I saw on social media or when someone I considered a friend walks away.
Rejection wounds can sink deep into our souls, causing us to doubt our worth, guard how much of our true selves we reveal, and anticipate future harm and betrayal. The sad truth is, we live in a broken world filled with equally wounded and insecure people who won’t always treat us the way we want or need. Some might placate their insecurities by criticizing, excluding, or ignoring us. But no matter how many times we’ve found ourselves “picked last” or not picked at all by other imperfect humans, we can comfort ourselves with the knowledge that Almighty God chose us!
The One who knows us fully—every sin we’ve committed, failure we’ve experienced, or awkward or awkward behavior we’ve exhibited—chose us anyway. All of us. The good, difficult, contradictory, silly and insecure.
Journal prompts:
How do you feel knowing God chose you knowing all your weaknesses and flaws? What are some ways you can remind yourself of this unchanging truth in circumstances in which you feel ignored or rejected? What feels most difficult about seeing yourself as chosen? End your journal/prayer time asking Him to help you heal and grow in this area.
About this Plan

You’re not insufficient, overlooked, unimportant or unseen. In Christ, you are loved, chosen, called, redeemed, empowered and held close by the One who crafted your every cell, knows your every flaw, sees your potential. Unfortunately, wounds from our past can challenge our ability to view ourselves as the Lord’s beloved. May this 30-day plan remind you of who you are to Christ and in Christ, helping you live with increased confidence and joy.
