Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

DAY 26 OF 30

You are a divine ambassador.

For decades, I wore these labels: high school dropout. Uneducated, unskilled and inexperienced—in anything other than housework. It took me 20 years to earn a college degree, and as my graduation drew near, I worried I was too late to do anything of value.

I now realize that God doesn’t waste a moment, frustration, tear or life. He excels at doing through us those things we never imagined.

According to Scripture, we, the redeemed, are called and empowered to live as His ambassadors. In the first century, this term usually indicated a respected and highly trusted representative given authority to speak on behalf of a statesmen, or, in this instance, for God Himself. Elsewhere, we read that He’s entrusted us with the gospel—with the very words of eternal life.

This is true for the fast-food fry cook, elementary teacher, company accountant, grandmother, world-traveling evangelist, and hospital janitor. Living as Christ’s ambassador elevates every position we hold and makes even our most monotonous moments sacred.

We matter. Our work matters. Most importantly, our influence matters, more than we’ll ever fully grasp, this side of heaven.

Journal Prompts:

List numerous synonyms for ambassador and journal on the different qualities each one encompasses. How do you feel when you think about God’s calling and commissioning you as His ambassador? What might this indicate regarding your purpose? Ask God to help you view yourself as His lovingly appointed ambassador entrusted with the words of life.

About this Plan

Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

You’re not insufficient, overlooked, unimportant or unseen. In Christ, you are loved, chosen, called, redeemed, empowered and held close by the One who crafted your every cell, knows your every flaw, sees your potential. Unfortunately, wounds from our past can challenge our ability to view ourselves as the Lord’s beloved. May this 30-day plan remind you of who you are to Christ and in Christ, helping you live with increased confidence and joy.
