Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through Struggle

DAY 1 OF 30

WEEK 1: Uprooting the Lies

Focus: Exposing the lies that keep us stuck and disconnected from our identity in Christ.

Day 1: What Are You Rooted In?

“Blessed is the man who trusts in Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

What a beautiful picture is painted here.

A tree, with deep roots connected to the life source - water. Ever blooming, ever flourishing, even in the midst of challenge, struggle, and trial.

A few verses before this, we see a stark contrast. That the man that puts his trust in man is like one in the desert, parched in the wilderness and failing to flourish.

Jesus didn’t come to bring us an easy life. He came to bring us his power to overcome.

But it is in HIM that we must put our trust.

Are you looking at your circumstances and overcome with fear and doubt? Or are you looking at the sovereign God who has promised to provide for your needs?

Where we are rooted matters. Jesus tells us in the parable of the sower that seed that roots anywhere but good soil is snatched away. But a heart that is set on Christ will not be overcome.

Governments will fall. People will disappoint us. Our bodies will face brokenness. But BLESSED is the one who trusts in the Lord. Who believe His promises for us are YES and AMEN.

This is how we live a victorious life in the midst of struggle. We look not at what trials come our way, but fix our eyes on the one who has already overcome.

Reflection Questions:

  • What have you been trusting in more than God?
  • What has been shaping your identity lately?
  • How can you begin to shift your roots toward Christ?

About this Plan

Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through Struggle

We often view struggle as a bad thing to be avoided. Who wants pain, right? But what if it's in the struggle that God does some of his best refining work? What if it's in the struggle we are strengthened for the journey ahead? Jesus told us we would have trials - but we can take heart because we never walk the valley's alone. Join me for 30 days as we travel through scripture and strengthen our faith together in the face of struggle.
