God's Imitators

DAY 4 OF 33

You are God's child If you're just leaving for school, are you nervous? Is there a bully or a major test you're dreading? If it's the end of the day, are you worn out? Was the day full of drama? Was the teacher harsh? Well, I want to share with you a bit of good news, to either give you the courage to face the day or peace so you can sleep better. The Father has given us His love. He loves us so much that we are actually called God's dear children. And that's what we are. For this reason, the world doesn't recognize us, and it didn't recognize Him either (1 John 3:1). The bad news is that God doesn't say, "I'll magically make all your problems go away." He actually says you aren't going to feel at home here because the world doesn't know Jesus. The good news is that you are God's child--present tense. He doesn't say, "Will be children of God"--future tense. You already get all the good stuff that comes along with being part of God's family. He tells you, "I love you. And I don't just kinda sorta love you; I lavish my love on you." That means because you are His child, He takes His love and dumps it all over you--kind of like the laundry on your bedroom floor.
