Talk to God You know exactly how to get what you want, don't you? You pester your parents until they give in. It usually goes something like this: "Dad, are we going to play basketball now?" "Give me a minute," Dad says. After counting to 60 you say, "That's a minute; it's time to play." "I meant a little more than a minute," Dad replies. Three minutes later, "Are you ready to play now?" You ask and ask and ask until your dad gives in and you head outside. This is exactly how you should talk to your God. Your heavenly Father loves you even more than your earthly dad does, so He loves giving you good things. When you pray, you keep talking and asking, never giving up. He tells you, "Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you" (Luke 11:9). But don't just ask for stuff--a video game or a bike or a puppy. Ask God for the things He wants you to have: justice, patience, wisdom, love, joy, kindness. Whether you speak your message out loud, sing it, whisper it, or just think it in your head, God hears you and guarantees to process your request.
