Prepare: Sources of light (night light, flashlight, smartphone)

Give each family member a source of light (you may use your phone or a flashlight). Switch off the light in your room and let one person shine his/her light in one area of the room. Then, one by one, the others will also turn their lights on and point them to a different area of the room. Notice how the light slowly fills up the room. (If you only have a few members in your family, each person may hold 2–3 sources of light.)

Just as the light slowly brightens up the room, God’s plan is for His glory to spread and fill the earth. And part of His plan is to use us, His people, to shine His glory to others.

READ THE WORD

“But truly, as I live . . . all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD . . .”

Numbers 14:21

The Israelites were rebelling against God. He was about to destroy them, but Moses interceded and God showed mercy. Instead of bringing punishment, God made a powerful promise: His glory will fill the whole earth. From creation (the sun, moon, and stars in the sky, the animals on land and in the sea, and everything God created) to Jesus’ work on the cross, everything points to this truth. God’s glory is His beauty, goodness, power, and holiness, and we see it most clearly in Jesus. When we, His children, live for Him and share His love with others, we take part in God’s big plan to fill the world with His glory.

• Look around you. Where can you see God’s glory? (All creation reflects God’s glory.)

7–12 years old

• Do you see God’s glory around you?
• How can your life—through your words, actions, or decisions—reflect God’s glory?

Kid/s to Parent/s

• How have you seen God’s glory in your life?
• As a family, how can we join God’s mission and share His glory with others?

Whenever we obey God, love others, and share about Jesus, we shine God’s light to the world. Let’s live in a way that will always show others how good, loving, and powerful God is, so that they, too, may see His glory.

PRAY

Dear God, thank You for Your goodness and love for us. Help us live in a way that others may see and experience these, too. Use our family to bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, amen!
