Countdown to Christmas: 12 Days to Prepare Your HeartSample

Seeing Like Elizabeth
Think about the last time you caught up with a friend. Maybe you sat and chatted over a coffee. Maybe you played a round of golf.
Was it ordinary or extraordinary?
This story could have played out like any other day, two cousins catching up to talk about their pregnancies before their babies arrive. Perhaps the plan was tea, or sewing baby clothes, or finding the solution for their swollen ankles after all that walking!
Except that it wasn’t any other day!
Elizabeth, filled with the Spirit, recognises God Almighty as Jesus in Mary’s womb! She is able to see something in the spiritual realm that makes no sense in the natural, and it fills her with joy, excitement, and anticipation for all that is to come.
Seeing in the spiritual realm turns an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.
As New Testament believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, we too can see, if we are truly looking. What is God doing in your family? What does He want to say to your neighbour? What can you bring to that work conflict?
Reflect: What does the Holy Spirit want you to see in the ordinary moments?
Pray: Holy Spirit, give me eyes to see what you see. Help to hear your voice, help me to let it interrupt my day.
