Faith That Grows in Every SeasonSample

AFTER THE STORM:
It seems that no matter how brown the grass on our lawn becomes during the hot summer months, it greens-up instantly after a storm. Why is that?
The obvious answer is rain—plants need water to survive.
While yes, water is a necessary component for developing strong and healthy plants, it is not the only factor. Through a bit of research, I’ve learned there are other elements needed for grass to flourish.
The most important element is nitrogen. When lightning flashes during an intense thunderstorm, a chain reaction takes place that converts nitrogen in the atmosphere to dissolvable nitrates that are more easily absorbed into the soil. Nitrates are essential factors for growing greener grass.
I’m always amazed at the vivid illustrations God provides through science and nature.
As I allow the life-giving water of God’s Word to soak into my spirit, I grow a little more each day. However, the most tremendous seasons of growth in my life take place after I've encountered an intense storm.
Trials, challenges, and heartaches seem to accelerate the spiritual growth process, much like the transformation of greener grass after a rainstorm.
It is a fact of life that some lessons are more readily absorbed into the fabric of our being through pain, struggle, and strife.
Losing loved ones, navigating challenging relationships, managing a ministry, and shouldering heartaches from living in a broken world are just a few of the tempests God has used to mold and shape me into the woman He desires me to be.
Although I do not especially enjoy going through tough times, I have found that they are necessary. One of the greatest benefits of trials and tribulations is that it enables us to grow stronger and better able to handle future storms and seasons of life.
So the next time you see clouds rolling in or hear the faint sound of thunder in the distance, remember, not only will God bring you safely through the storm, He will give you greener grass on the other side.
REFLECTION:
What life-challenges has God used to help you grow?
What blessings resulted once God helped you through those challenges?
PRAYER:
Lord, when I go through hard times, help me remember brighter days are coming, and greener grass is on the other side. Amen

About this Plan

Throughout our faith journey, we go through seasons of growth. Some growth is visible; it can be seen and felt. Other growth is hidden beneath the surface; it may not be as readily seen or felt, but it’s equally important. God ordains different seasons to build and strengthen our faith. He gives us plenty of experiences, opportunities, and grace; but whether we allow life’s ever-changing seasons to grow us is up to us. Develop steadfast faith that grows in every season.
