Cinematic Faith: Life Lessons From the Big ScreenSample

Toy Story 3 follows Woody, Buzz, and a group of toys who come to life when humans aren’t looking. They face their darkest moment when they are accidentally trapped in an incinerator with no way out. The toys stop fighting and accept what seems like certain destruction. Just when all seems lost, they are rescued at the last second. Rescue comes not because they earned it, but because someone chose to intervene.
That’s the Gospel. God reached down and rescued us. We were powerless to save ourselves, but Jesus stepped in for us, bearing the weight and consequence. And now we live free.
We’re not just saved for safety—we’re saved for a purpose. Our rescue becomes our story. Who in your life needs to hear it? Who’s still stuck, still believing there’s no way out? Maybe your story is the bridge to theirs.
Pray: Jesus, thank you for rescuing me when I couldn’t save myself. Help me never forget the depth of your love, and give me boldness to share my rescue story with someone who needs hope. Amen.

About this Plan

Some of the most powerful stories on screen reflect the deeper truths of Scripture. Courage, grace, sacrifice, and hope—these moments echo the greatest story ever told: the Gospel. In this plan, we’ll connect popular movies with the Bible, exploring how God’s truth shines through even in the stories we watch. These films aren’t a replacement for the Bible—they’re a lens to help us see redemption, compassion, and purpose in a new way. (Fair warning: there may be some spoilers!)
