Getting caught in the rain without an umbrella is not a fun experience, especially when you are wearing your good clothes.

We look for the closest building or shelter to run under so we can get out of the downpour. We realise that it can protect us from the sudden cloudburst.

What about the sudden downpours of crisis in our lives? All of us at some point come to the place where we are hit by something we did not foresee or anticipate. We want to duck and hide or run for cover. Unfortunately, it often feels like we cannot escape the downpour.

It's at these times we really need sound advice to help us navigate our way out of the crisis. We all need a place where we can feel loved and protected.

The psalmist points us in the direction where, regardless of our circumstances, we can find a place of protection and refuge.

To take refuge means to be in a state of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or difficulty. God offers guidance, comfort, peace and joy when we seek Him out in our difficult seasons.

In Him we find protection and the solution to our problems.
