Following Jesus Through the First Christmas: 25 Days of Advent TruthsSample

Caesar Augustus was the most powerful ruler of his time. With one decree, he could move entire populations. So when he called for a census, it looked like another power play—a way to count, control, and command.
Caesar thought he was in control, but God was doing something greater,
He was writing prophecy into history. Caesar’s decree sent Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, the exact place the prophet Micah said the Messiah would be born.
It’s easy to look at the world and wonder where God is.
The headlines, the heartache, the constant noise—it can all feel like too much.
But the first Christmas reminds us that even when the world feels out of control, God never loses hold of His plan.
His hand reaches farther than any ruler’s.
His wisdom works through people and systems that don’t even recognize Him.
His purpose moves quietly through history, accomplishing everything He said He would do.
God’s story is still unfolding, right in the middle of what feels uncertain or broken.
He is never distant, never delayed, and never caught off guard.
Pray:
God, thank You for ruling over all with wisdom and love. When I’m overwhelmed by the brokenness around me, remind me that You are still working. Help me trust that Your plan is good and that nothing stands outside of Your control. Amen.
Talk about it:
Where do you see things in your life—or in the world—that feel out of control? What helps you remember that God is still ruling over it all?

About this Plan

During a season that often feels busy and stretched thin, we invite you to pause and remember what matters most: following Jesus. The birth of Christ is more than a story we tell in December. It's the beginning of our Savior's life on earth — and the pattern for our own life with Him. Our prayer is that these 25 days prepare your heart to celebrate His birth, deepen your walk with Him today, and stir your hope for His return. We’ve also created a companion worship playlist – search “Following Jesus Through the First Christmas” on Spotify to listen.
