Pillars of Prosperity: Giving (1)

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. Proverbs 11:24 NLT

Understand that God’s prosperity math is different from ours. In school, they taught us 5 minus 2 equals 3. In God’s kingdom? Sometimes, 5 minus 2 equals 5,000 fed with 12 baskets left over. That’s the wild power of giving. When done in faith, it’s not subtraction, it’s multiplication in disguise!

Giving doesn’t always make sense. You’re praying for a financial breakthrough, and God tells you to give? You might be like, “Lord, are You trying to finish me?” But He’s not. He’s trying to train you. Giving is God’s way of pruning greed, building trust, and positioning you for overflow. Remember the widow of Zarephath? She gave her last meal to Elijah, and boom, she ate for many days while others starved. (1 Kings 17:8–16)

God doesn’t need your money. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. What He wants is your heart. And where your treasure is, your heart will follow (Matthew 6:21). That’s why Jesus praised the poor widow who gave two small coins. She gave with faith, not flash. Giving isn’t about the size; it’s about the spirit behind it. And when done right, it opens doors that no work/labour can open.

Giving isn’t just about tithing or offering; it’s helping the needy, blessing others, supporting missions, and being a generous human. Think of it like sowing seeds. You don’t eat all your corn if you want a farm next season. You sow some, water it, and watch God multiply it back to you in unexpected ways. So next time God nudges you to give, don’t squeeze your wallet. Open up, it might just be your gateway to what you’ve been praying for.

I am a cheerful giver! I sow generously, and I reap abundantly. Lack has no place in my life. I give by faith, not by fear, and God multiplies every seed I sow. I prosper because I’m connected to heaven’s economy!
