Jesus: The True Light of the World

DAY 5 OF 7

Christ Jesus came into this world, in history and in geography.

In the Gospel of John, the phrase "coming into the world" specifically is used of Jesus several times.

For example, the people saw the sign Jesus performed and said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” (John 6:14, NASB95) Martha, at the deathly tomb of Lazarus, said, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.” (John 11:27, NASB95)

The Lord Jesus Himself said, “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father” (John 16:28, NASB95). In John 18, in answer to Pilate who asked, "Are You the King of the Jews?" the Lord Jesus said, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth.” (John 18:33, 37, NASB95)

In Scripture, "coming into the world" specifically speaks about the Light coming into the world—about Jesus coming into the world. In John 3, we read, “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world …” (John 3:19a, NASB95)

"I have come as Light into the world," says Jesus in John 12:46, NASB95.

In the history of religions and philosophies, only one man has ever said, "I am the Light of the world" (John 8:12, NASB95) and then proven himself to be so.

The "WorldLight" is the eternal generator. The "WorldLight" is the full transmitter—the personal transmitter. But the "World Light" is also the global distributor.

Tomorrow we will discuss the purpose for which the true Light, the “World Light,” came into the world.
