Marriage Is God's Design: Inspired by the Movie 'Back to Eden'

DAY 6 OF 7

MOJI is praying in the middle of the night. Her husband, Larry, stands at the door, silently watching her. He goes to kneel by her side quietly. She finishes praying and turns to him.

MOJI: Dear, What's wrong? anything the matter?

LARRY: No, not really. I just erm... I just admire your prayer life. You do this almost every night. I keep asking myself if I could ever do the same.

MOJI: Dear, you know I wasn’t like this before.

LARRY: Yeah, you’re right. So, what happened?

MOJI: Jesus happened. He’s the difference you now see in my life.

Strengthened by Prayers

When God opens your spiritual eyes to discern the enemy at work within your marriage, the worst mistake you can make is to fight a spiritual battle with human weapons. Reasoning alone will fail. Anger will backfire. Pride will deepen the wounds. When you try to solve spiritual problems by natural means, you often end up entangled in the very web the enemy created. Your mind grows weary, negativity floods your thoughts, and hopelessness whispers that nothing good can come out of your home again.

But this is where the power of prayer changes the narrative. Prayer realigns your vision. It strengthens you in your inner being and casts down every evil imagination that rises against God’s purpose. In prayer, your perspective shifts; you stop seeing your spouse through the lens of offense and start seeing your marriage through the lens of God’s promises. Your words begin to echo heaven’s truth, not hell’s lies. And in that place of surrendered prayer, God begins to do what human efforts could never achieve.

Prayer is not a last resort; it is the lifeline of a godly marriage. Add to your humility a consistent and fervent prayer life. It is what enables you to “stand in the evil day” and not be consumed by the storm. Prayer is where you open your heart completely to God, hiding nothing, and where He responds with forgiveness, healing, and strength.

Moji learnt this firsthand. Instead of lashing out at Larry or giving up on their home, she opened up to God first, and then again and again. Though she had countless reasons to walk away, she remained steadfast on her knees. And in time, her perseverance in prayer became irresistible; even Larry could not remain unmoved. He bowed, not before her will, but before her God.

Never underestimate the power of prayer. It is the strength that holds you when you are weak, the anchor that steadies your home when the winds rage, and the fire that fuels transformation when everything else has failed. Prayer will not only sustain you — it will carry you into God’s perfect peace.

Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You for the gift and power of prayer. Teach me to run first to You and not to my own strength when storms arise in my marriage. Help me to see my spouse and my home through Your eyes and to speak only what aligns with Your Word. Lord, purge my heart of fear, bitterness, and doubt, and fill me instead with faith, patience, and peace. As I seek You daily, let Your power heal what is broken, and make my marriage a testimony of Your grace, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
