Marriage Is God's Design: Inspired by the Movie 'Back to Eden'Sample

LADY 2: But what about what the Bible says regarding submission? It clearly states that women must submit to their husbands as unto the Lord. Doesn’t that suggest that God placed men above women?
LADY: Listen, I believe in the Bible, but some things aren’t practical. I know my worth and the investment my parents made in me. Do you expect me to throw all of that away because of a man?
LADY 2: What advice would you give to women struggling in their marriages due to promotions or their contributions to the home?
LADY: (angrily) Leave the relationship quickly. Some men are naturally jealous, and you can’t change that. Such men will never truly appreciate you. The best option is to walk away and let him handle things on his own. If you have the means to take care of your children and live comfortably, then don’t hesitate.
...
LADY 2: (Turns to another woman next to her) So, Pastor Olivia, I'm sure you'll have a thing or two to chip in on this matter.
PASTOR OLIVIA: Divorce is not the solution. God brought you together for His purpose. The joy, peace, and fulfillment you long for in your marriage can still be restored. The enemy is behind the confusion, but God, the author of marriage, can bring back your peace.
Whispers of Confusion
Every Eden has a serpent and every marriage, no matter how divinely designed, will encounter the whispers of a stranger; subtle suggestions that sound wise but are rooted in deception. He rarely announces himself with obvious evil; instead, he disguises his lies as enlightenment, presenting confusion as knowledge and rebellion as growth.
That’s how the stranger operates: he twists God’s Word just enough to make error look like wisdom. Suddenly, you begin to feel as though you’re “becoming a better version” of yourself — yet that version is drifting further from God’s design. You start adopting philosophies and opinions that do not stand on the foundation of the Scripture. Whenever you hear whispers that contradict God’s Word, know that the stranger is after your Eden.
The serpent always approaches based on the state of your heart. Eve had already begun to see the forbidden fruit as “good and desirable”, and that inner shift made her vulnerable to deception. Likewise, when our hearts start to desire what God has forbidden or when we entertain thoughts beyond His will, we make room for confusion to take root.
Moji and Debby’s stories illustrate this battle vividly. The stranger’s voice grew louder than God’s truth, promising them something “better” beyond obedience. Yet, even in that moment, the choice remained theirs — as it remains yours: Whose voice will you obey?
God’s voice is not chaotic or confusing. He speaks to guide you into truth (John 16:13), convicts you in righteousness (John 16:8), and comforts you with His presence (Isaiah 30:21). Anything outside this — any voice that urges you away from peace, purpose, and covenant — is the stranger’s attempt to drive you from the garden.
Don’t let him. Guard your heart. Anchor your thoughts in the Scripture. And above all, listen for the Shepherd’s voice — the one that leads you not out of Eden, but deeper into it.
Prayer:
Father, You are the voice of truth that leads me into peace, purpose, and fellowship. Silence every whisper of confusion that seeks to draw me away from Your Word and Your will. Guard my heart from desires that oppose Your purpose and sharpen my discernment to recognize the stranger’s lies. Teach me to delight in Your voice above every other and to follow You faithfully, so that my marriage and my life remain firmly rooted in Your Eden, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
