Three Years in 30 Days: Jesus' Life and MissionSample

Jesus has power over death
A twelve year old girl had died. “Taking her by the hand He [Jesus] said to her, ‘Talitha cumi,’ which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise.’ And immediately the girl got up and began walking.” (Mark 5:41-42 ESV)
The miraculous power of the Lord Jesus became widely known. Countless spectators marveled at His words and deeds, and many sick people were brought to Him in the hope of healing. It is only natural, then, that a concerned father went to Jesus with an urgent request: “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” (Mark 5:23 ESV) Jesus went with him, but was delayed on the way by someone else who also needed help. When He finally arrived at the sick girl's house, she had already died. Jesus was too late, thought those around Him. But even this situation was not hopeless for Him. He entered the house with some of His disciples and the girl's parents, took the child by the hand, and called her back from the dead.
There were a few other occasions when Jesus brought someone back to life. Ultimately, He Himself was killed—and rose again three days later! What powerful signs of the glorious future He promises us. “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22 ESV)
Jesus Christ is stronger than death!
