Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through Struggle

DAY 19 OF 30

WEEK 3: Nourishing the Roots

Focus: Developing spiritual practices and a renewed mind to strengthen your identity in Christ.

Day 19: Worship in the Wilderness

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour." Habakkuk 3:17–19

Sometimes worship is loud and joyful - like King David dancing through the streets.

Other times, it’s whispered through tears.

Habakkuk’s song wasn’t sung after a victory. It was sung while everything was falling apart -no crops, no livestock, no visible provision. Israel facing the correction after turning their hearts away from God.

And yet Habakkuk declares… “I will rejoice.”

This kind of worship is powerful. It's worship that is not based on circumstance. Not based on getting what we want - or what we think we deserve. It's worship based on who God is.

When you worship in the wilderness, you're not denying the dryness of your season. You're declaring the faithfulness of your God. It's acknowledging God as King and Saviour.

It’s easy to praise Him when prayers are answered. It’s hard to praise Him when you're still waiting. But this is where your roots deepen. This is where faith grows strong.

Because God isn’t just worthy when life is good. He’s worthy because He is good. All the time.

Wilderness worship tells your soul: “He is enough." Wilderness worship declares that your hope is rooted in Christ alone.

So lift your voice, however weak. Sing the truth until your spirit starts to believe it again.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does it mean to praise God before the breakthrough?
  • How can worship reframe your perspective today?
  • What wilderness are you walking through -and what can you praise Him for in it?

About this Plan

Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through Struggle

We often view struggle as a bad thing to be avoided. Who wants pain, right? But what if it's in the struggle that God does some of his best refining work? What if it's in the struggle we are strengthened for the journey ahead? Jesus told us we would have trials - but we can take heart because we never walk the valley's alone. Join me for 30 days as we travel through scripture and strengthen our faith together in the face of struggle.
