One Week in Prayer 10-Day Devotional on Building a Consistent Habit of Daily PrayerSample

Wednesday: Our Siblings, Parents, Relatives, and Prophecies
Why I Pray for My Siblings
I love my siblings deeply and miss them often. I’m the first son and second of five children, and some of my fondest memories are from our childhood in Jericho, Ibadan—a peaceful government reservation area far different from today’s bustling Lagos, where I spent a large portion of my adult life.
We were a close-knit family—sharing meals together, telling stories by candlelight during power cuts, and exploring the institute grounds in our playful. Life has since scattered us: my brothers are in New York, my sisters in the UK, and I remain here in Lagos. But distance has not diminished my prayers for them.
I ask the Lord to bless their work, protect their families, deliver them from every bondage, and deepen their walk with Christ. Since we have all received Jesus as Lord and Savior, I pray we remain steadfast until His coming, that every sacrifice and act of love will bear eternal fruit.
Why I Pray for My Relatives
The Bible tells of people who, after meeting Christ, brought their whole households to Him—like the Roman centurion and the Philippian jailer. My late mum embodied this spirit, gathering our extended family during holidays and celebrations. Since her passing from cancer, those close bonds have weakened, and contact is now rare.
I pray for my uncles, aunts, and cousins, wherever they may be. Above all, I pray for their salvation—that God would open their hearts to His love, restore peace in their homes, and draw them into a personal relationship with Jesus.
I especially lift up my dad, asking the Lord to comfort him, give him peace, and grant him a life-changing encounter with Christ. My desire is for him to finish his race strong in the Lord.
Why I Pray Concerning Prophecies
God speaks in many ways—through our conscience, the inner witness, His still small voice, dreams, visions, and prophetic words. Over the years, the Lord has often spoken to me in vivid dreams that I record in a journal. I also note yearly prophetic declarations from trusted ministers.
I pray for these revelations to come to pass in God’s perfect timing—for my life, family, church, and nation. I ask for grace to overcome any opposition, clarity to hear His voice, and courage to obey promptly. I pray for a deeper walk with Him, that I may run faithfully with the vision He has entrusted to me.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for my siblings—bless them, guide them, and keep them in Your perfect will. For my relatives, I pray for salvation, peace, and restoration in their homes. Comfort my father and draw him into Your saving grace. Concerning every prophecy and revelation, let Your Word be established in my life, my family, and all You have called me to influence. Grant me grace to hear, obey, and walk in the fullness of Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
