30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your MarriageSample

Jesus, may our love reflect your love.
Sometimes I just don’t feel loving. I just don’t. Sometimes, I don’t even feel “like” for my husband. That’s when I have to recenter on God’s Word, specifically John 13:34 (NIV), about who the Lord is, what he’s done and what he’s called us to do. This verse shows the reason we must love one another: because God has first loved us.
God is love. His essence is loving. It’s not dismissive, agitated, annoyed, or inconvenienced like I often am. I want to put on that same Christ-like love for others, especially my husband.
Our words and actions need to be motivated by great love for one another. Thinking of one another more often than ourselves. Putting our marriage first and honoring the Lord in how we serve one another. The love Jesus demonstrated during his time on earth was sacrificial, abundant, service driven, hopeful, and enduring.
It didn’t find the woman at the well and leave her there. It didn’t just heal the bleeding woman without pausing to acknowledge her years of hurt and her bold faith. It wasn’t just telling Peter he would deny him, but it was cooking him breakfast and giving him an opportunity for restoration. His love was an action word day in and day out. May ours be put into action as well.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, you are loving so I want to be loving. Help me to love my spouse well. Help me to love past imperfections, past annoyances, past my own fatigue and feelings. Help me to love in a way that honors you. Lord, I want your love to pour through me and into my marriage. Help me to make “love” an action in my marriage.
