It Starts With OneSample

Created by the One
The story of creation began with One.
One God. One sentence. One breath—and the world was formed.
From the heavens to the smallest detail on the earth, every part was handcrafted by the Creator.
But, in all of creation, only one being was made in God’s image—you.
You are not like anything else on this earth. You are intentionally and uniquely created by God in His image, for His purpose, and with eternal value.
Yet even though we were made in His image, humanity turned away from Him. Still, God made a promise to restore us—a promise fulfilled by the One who came to save us: Jesus.
In Luke 15, Jesus tells the Parable of the Lost Sheep. In the parable, the shepherd leaves his 99 sheep to find the one lost sheep. And when he finds it, he rejoices.
This parable reveals something powerful about God’s character: He will stop at nothing to save us. Why? Because You are the one He made, the one He knows, the one He loves unconditionally, and the one He longs to restore.
It also shows us the depth of His love for the lost. God didn’t just make a way. He became the way.
Through Jesus, the Creator stepped into His creation—not to condemn it but to redeem it. Jesus lived the life we could not live and died the death we deserved so that we could experience an eternal relationship with God.
Because of Jesus, the One who came to save us, we are no longer slaves to the sin that once entangled us. We are invited into the new life for which we were created: to walk with God, to reflect His image, and to live out His purpose.
You were created by the One. You were saved by the One. And now, you get to live for the One.
2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, the new has come into being.”
The story of creation that began with One is still being written in your life. This is just the beginning of what God stands ready to do in and through you.
Reflect and Respond:
- How does being made in God’s image help you see yourself the way He sees you? How does it impact the way you see others?
- How have you seen God remain faithful in seasons where you may have felt distant from Him?
- In what ways does Jesus’ sacrifice help you understand your identity and purpose as God’s creation?
Prayer:
God,
Thank You for creating me in Your image. Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me so I can know You personally. Help me to understand my identity and to see myself and others the way You see me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
