The Treasures of Hebrews

DAY 3 OF 13

“Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.” (Hebrews 3:1 ESV)

Jesus is at the centre. Moses was a servant, but Jesus is the Son of God. There’s no getting around Him. Do not harden your heart by turning away from Him.

Jesus and Moses are compared. Moses was a called servant of God. As a prophet, he spoke of things in the future. He was a servant of God's house, but not the builder. As long as we hold on to hope until the end, we are part of that house. But does that always work out? No—the Israelites in the desert turned away from God. They challenged God. They did not see His works, but they challenged Him. For that reason, they could not enter the promised land.

Chapter 3 tests your faith. Warning upon warning sounds. Why? People do not easily understand God's work. People make life easy for themselves by pushing problems to tomorrow. But watch out. Don't put off faith for a single day. Talk to each other about how important it is. Take someone aside in private and warn them about the day when God's wrath will come! Be careful not to persist in unbelief and miss out on salvation.

An embittered life is a life without hope. Do not disobey the voice of Jesus, but believe. Otherwise, you will not enter eternal rest.

About this Plan

The Treasures of Hebrews

In thirteen days, we will read the entire letter to the Hebrews. We will discover all the treasures that the author shares with us from the Old Testament. Jesus is greater than Moses. Jesus is the high priest of a better covenant. Jesus' blood completely cleanses us from all sins. Jesus reconciles us with God. Therefore, follow Him in faith, as many have done before you.
