Lessons From JonahSample

SECOND CHANCES
Then the Word of the Lord came a second time. I think second chances and God’s forgiveness are the core of the book of Jonah. Jonah did all that he could to run from God’s call, but God didn’t give up on him. Nineveh, too, had done so much, yet God’s will was and is to forgive. God refused to give up on Jonah or Nineveh. He doesn’t give up on us either. No matter where we are and where we have been, God is still calling us.
Here are some highlights from today’s video:
- The Word of the Lord came a second time.
- God refused to give up on Nineveh and on Jonah. He doesn’t give up on us either.
- Jonah shares the story of a prophet with a hard heart and sinners with soft hearts.
- Jonah Chapter 3, Verse 5 (ESV): The people repented.
- Repentance is more than just words. In Jonah Chapter 3, Verse 8 (ESV), it says Let everyone TURN from his evil way.
- God didn’t just hear their apology; He could see their repentance. (Jonah 3:10 ESV)

About this Plan

Jonah is one of my favorite Bible stories. It's a small and rich story with only four small chapters; it doesn’t take long, but it is filled with powerful lessons for us today. We are going to spend four days reading through the book of Jonah together, pulling lessons from the life and story of Jonah.
