He Drew Near: A Christmas Journey of Hope and PresenceSample

Shepherds and Angels
In the temple, an old man name Simeon cradled the newborn Messiah in his arms. He had been waiting his whole life for this moment — not just waiting in general but waiting with hope. Guided by the Spirit, he recognized Jesus not simply as a child but as the fulfillment of every promise God had ever made.
His words echo Isaiah’s prophecy: “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us” (Isaiah 25:9). Simeon didn’t just wait well — he waited with eyes open to see.
Waiting is part of the human experience. We wait for healing, for answers, for breakthroughs. But Christmas shows us that God doesn’t waste the wait. He is near in it. And his timing, though mysterious, is always right.
Just as God was faithful to Simeon, he will be faithful to you.
Reflection Question:
What are you waiting for right now? How can Simeon’s story encourage you to trust God’s timing?
Prayer:
Faithful God, thank you for being in the waiting. Teach us to trust you when we don’t see the full picture. Help us to wait with hope, with eyes open to your presence. Amen.

About this Plan

Christmas is the story of a God who comes close. In this 12-day devotional, we reflect on how Jesus stepped into our world with humility, hope and love — not as a distant king but as one who draws near to the lowly and the waiting. Each day offers Scripture, reflection and prayer to help us slow down and see how the birth of Christ speaks to our everyday lives. His coming isn’t just something to celebrate. It’s something to experience. May this journey lead you to wonder, worship and a deeper awareness of his nearness this season.
