SOWER AND SOILS This parable or speaks powerfully to the state of our hearts and how receptive we are to the word of God. How often do you find yourself unaffected by the word when you read it or hear it preached? Is your heart becoming hardened to God? Jesus so warns us that while we may receive the word with joy, we don't take it any deeper, and our initial joy can quickly pass away. Next, and perhaps most deceptive, is a life where some fruit is produced, but it competes with the worries of life. What things compete with your desire to serve Jesus? The worries of life, lure of wealth, or the desire for other things? Finally, good soil produces good fruit. Where do you see the most fruit being produced in your life for God? What fruit do you want to see produced at a 30, 60, 100-fold return in your life?
