Heaven (Part 2)Sample

Treasure That Lasts
Jesus said, 'Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also' (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV).
When I was first married, I loved spending money on worship CDs, music books, albums, and DVDs with the latest films. At the time, it felt like a fantastic way to spend my hard-earned cash.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and they’re now sitting in a cupboard gathering dust. I don’t even own some of the devices needed to play them anymore. Looking back, I can’t help but think, Was that ‘treasure’ really worth it? What once seemed valuable is now worthless.
It’s a clear reminder of what Jesus was saying. The things we invest in here don’t last; they wear out, break, or lose their importance. Instead, He calls us to store up treasures in Heaven – the way we love, serve, and live out His purpose according to what the Bible teaches us. Those things never fade. They have earthly effectiveness and heavenly value!
Reflect
Here's a challenge:
- What are you building your life around?
- Are you investing in things that matter to God, or things that won’t last?
- Will you live with eternity in mind and focus on what truly matters?
Tomorrow we’ll look at exactly what kind of treasure you will be building up in Heaven!
Pray
Lord, help me let go of what doesn’t last, and live for what does. May my life reflect Your kingdom and store up treasures in Heaven. Amen.
