Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Daily Devotional

DAY 48 OF 365

Creativity Take a look around you. Look at the clouds that are constantly shape-shifting overhead. Look at the sun as it sets on the horizon and the collage of colors that fill the sky. Look at the vivid variety you find in the animal kingdom. Look at the tapestry of trees that line the landscape. Everywhere you look, you can see God's creativity represented and reflected. Those are all obvious examples. But let's look a little closer at this thing we call "life." Let's pull out the proverbial magnifying glass and look for God's creative fingerprints in places we might not expect to find them. Let's look at the life of Joseph. For years, it looked like a tragedy-slavery, false accusations, imprisonment. But when we look closer, we see that these things were really precursors to greatness. Joseph's hardships put him in the position to not only rise to power and prominence, but to save his family and set up a divinely-determined dynasty. In hindsight, God's creativity can't be denied as He transformed the evil aimed at Joseph into good (Genesis 50:20). Now look at your own life. There are tragedies you've experienced, chapters of your story that are confusing and painful. Take heart, because you belong to a creative God, and He's creative enough to turn your darkest hours into your most glorious moments. How? You have no idea because your creativity can't compare to His. But you can trust that the Creator of all things is creative enough to make every episode in your life work for you. And one day you'll be able to look back and say along with Joseph, "God turned evil into good." And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God... (Romans 8:28 NKJV) Everywhere you look, you can see God's creativity represented and reflected. What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
