DAY 51 OF 365

Impartiality As we work our way through the attributes of God, it would be a crime if we skipped over His impartiality. By impartial, we're referring to His total lack of prejudice or favoritism. In God's eyes, one person is just as valued and important as the other. We see God's impartiality attested to by a very unlikely source in the Gospel of Matthew. As the religious rulers of Jesus' day descended upon Him like vultures drawn to the kill, they make a striking statement: "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men." (Matthew 22:16 NKJV) Even Jesus' enemies recognized that He didn't play favorites. After scrutinizing His every move in order to find an angle of accusation against Him, they had to confess that this Man was completely impartial. They knew this first-hand because they were used to getting the royal treatment from everyone else, but Jesus never played that game with them. But to Him, they were just as important as the leper, the blind beggar, and even the demoniac...and He dealt with them accordingly. There's something so beautiful about this because all of us have been on the wrong side of partiality and prejudice. We know what it's like to be a casualty of favoritism, to be shut out because another human being does not value us. But what a blessing it is to know that this can never be the case with God. Everyone is equal in His eyes, and each person is able to enjoy equal access to Him. "The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." (John 6:37 NKJV) In God's eyes, one person is just as valued and important as the other. What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
