Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Daily Devotional

DAY 320 OF 365

It's All His! Worship is offering to God all we have in every area of our life. That offering begins with a change in perspective that is countercultural. The world tells us to buy and own stuff-to get all we can. Commercials and advertisements are constantly bombarding us with this message. But Paul teaches a different view-that even our bodies aren't our own. We've been purchased by God! We all own certain things. And when you are the owner of a thing, you also have the responsibility of determining how that thing is used. When you're a kid, if you didn't like what was happening on the playground, you could take your ball and go home! When you become an adult, you choose everyday how you are going to use your home, your car, your finances, and your time. But the problem is the word "your." That's a word that tells other people that you own it, that you control it. Scripture shows us a better way. Once we realize that God has purchased us at a price, that He has bought our redemption at the cost of His own Son's life, we gladly relinquish the idea of something being "ours." It's no longer "ours," it's now all His! This radical shift makes us stewards of God's gifts and resources, not owners of stuff. Our worship offering is part of that stewardship. He has given us lips to declare His praises, and hands and feet to show His love. We are His, and the gospel of Jesus Christ shows us that the greatest offering we can give to God is ourselves. Even our very bodies aren't our own. All we have, all we are is His and His alone. -Andrew Wooddell Worship Leader, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Worship is offering to God all we have in every area of our life. Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
