Family of faith God is perfectly attuned to our needs in this life. If there's something we require, He's aware of it. And not only that, He's faithful to provide for it. One of the greatest needs we have is for companionship. Survivalist all agree: Companionship can be just as essential in a survival situation as food, water, fire, or shelter. We truly need the fellowship of others, and when we go without it, we begin to shut down and fail to function the way we were created to. Because God understands this need, and because He is such a faithful provider, He "sets the solitary in families." How does He do this in our lives? Through our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Once we are in Christ, we inherit a spiritual family. It's a family where God the Father is the head, and our fellow-believers become our brothers and sisters. By a single act of faith in Jesus, we become joined to a family of faith that extends from heaven to earth and from pole to pole: For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named... (Ephesians 3:14-15 NKJV) Many are the benefits of being a believer in Jesus, not the least of which is the spiritual fellowship that comes from following Him. No Christian can ever say they're without family. The closer they draw to Him, the closer they will be drawn to others who are drawing close to Him. Father in Heaven, thank you for providing Your followers with a family...a family founded on faith in You. Help us to not only be closer to You but to our fellow family members, as well. Companionship can be just as essential in a survival situation as food, water, fire, or shelter. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God?
