DAY 124 OF 365

The differences are divine Marriage is a matter of divine design. It's something that God Himself created for men and women. But marriage is also a matter of differences, and those differences are divine, too. It may seem overly obvious, but men and women are different. They have different ideas, different priorities, different strengths, different weaknesses, different bodies, different motivations...you get the idea. Now where did all these differences come from? They came from God. When He created the first couple, He could have created clones. But He didn't. He "made them male and female." He deliberately created two human beings that possessed built-in differences. Don't miss that important point. If we don't recognize these dynamic differences as part of God's will for marriage, then the differences that are divine can actually become differences that divide. Oftentimes we encounter these differences and automatically assume they're wrong or bad because they don't perfectly align with who and what we are. We think the perfect marriage is one without any differences between the two parties involved. But when we think that way, we lose sight of the fact that this is exactly the way God wants it! He deliberately created those differences. That's not an easy thing for the flesh to accept, but it's a fact every couple needs to face and confront. Their respective differences are divinely designed and they represent God's fingerprints on their relationship. It's absolutely critical for a couple to accept and appreciate this. If they do, it puts things in proper perspective and paves the way for an admiration and even a celebration for how God made their mate to be. Marriage is a matter of divine design. It's something that God Himself created for men and women. But marriage is also a matter of differences, and those differences are divine, too. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
