She Reads Truth: 1 PeterSample

The Great Send-Off
It’s closing time.
We’ve read Peter’s letter the last two weeks. We’ve dug into the meat of the letter and now full, we feel ready to push our chairs back from the table. But if we think the last few verses of 1 Peter are just an attempt to wrap things up with nothing important to say, we’re wrong.
Peter wants to bless us. He wants to infuse us with power and confidence. He wants to motivate us to act boldly right where we are and to be who God calls us to be. It’s not an ending, it’s a beginning.
And like Peter, as we finish this study, we want to encourage, equip and edify you as well.
So as you go forth, may you set your hope and your eyes fully on His grace and may it be yours in abundance.
May you love one another deeply from the heart, being sympathetic and compassionate.
May you humble yourself, to others and to the Lord, so that He may lift you up.
May you cast all your fear and anxiety on Him, and may you feel His strong hands lifting the burdens from your shoulders.
May you be, in your hearts set apart, living as you’ve been called, so that you may inherit His blessing and taste that He is good. Oh so good.
Friends, peace to you.
To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

About this Plan

Peter walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, messed up big and still had his Savior call him the rock - the foundation of the Church. Even though it’s thousands of years later, we’ll find we’re not so different from those New Testament believers. We are sprinkled by the blood of Jesus just as they were. We are set apart, forever made different, unable to return to our previous thinking and acting without seeing everything through the eyes of His sacrifice and our redemption. Join us as we dive into 1 Peter as a community!
