Abraham's Worship

DAY 3 OF 5

Surrendering your worries and sorrows completely to God might be easier said than done. How often do you find yourself falling back into the same patterns, because you haven’t been discussing your challenges with God?

Good news: It is a very human thing to do so. Reflecting on the story of Abraham and Sarah, we see how Sarah was troubled by the idea of conceiving at such an old age, even if it was a Promise of God. How often do we find it easier to let ourselves be overwhelmed by worries and try to come up with our own solutions, even when God has clearly spoken?

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest...” (Matthew 11:28, ESV).

Sarah and Abraham did not obey God when they made the choice to conceive a child through Hagar. They did not worship God. They sinned - they missed God’s Purpose for their life. The consequence? The birth of a great people, born in denial: The people of Ishmäel. Yet, Abraham passes his final test, and his offspring are being "greatly blessed." God is truly Faithful to His Word.

Just as Abraham was willing to sacrifice that which was so valuable to him, would you be willing to sacrifice all that you value to God? Or do your fears prevent you from doing so? Apparently we see that God values a sacrificial heart.

Is your heart prepared to give the best to God? I encourage you to meditate on this, and I pray God will greatly bless you!
