The Entrepreneur’s Devotional:13 Days to Kingdom ImpactSample

The Rule of 3 and Its Biblical Foundation
In both business and personal development, many leaders and productivity experts suggest the “Rule of 3.” This principle emphasizes focusing on completing just three major tasks per day. The beauty of this approach lies in its simplicity. By narrowing down your focus to just three important goals, you avoid the trap of overwhelm and increase your chances of success.
Let’s examine how this aligns with biblical teachings, where the principle of focus and stewardship is emphasized throughout Scripture.
1. Focused Effort Yields Fruit
The Bible speaks often about the importance of focusing on what is good and necessary. In Luke 10:41-42, Jesus tells Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
This passage teaches us that prioritizing a few key tasks, rather than being distracted by many, is what leads to true peace and success. Just like Martha, we can become overwhelmed by a long list of tasks. Yet, Jesus shows us that focusing on what is important brings clarity and purpose.
In business, just as in our spiritual lives, it’s often the simplest things that have the greatest impact. The “Rule of 3” mirrors this biblical principle—by focusing on a few key actions, we can serve others and achieve success without scattering our energies.
2. The Power of Prioritization
Proverbs 16:3 tells us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” The “Rule of 3” aligns perfectly with this verse. When we commit our time and energy to just three major tasks, we invite God’s guidance into those efforts. This principle helps us avoid the trap of chasing after countless opportunities, which may not be the ones God has called us to pursue.
When we prioritize and focus on a select few tasks, we free up mental and spiritual space to receive God’s direction for those endeavors. By committing those tasks to the Lord, we open ourselves up to His establishment of our plans and provision for success.
3. Maximizing Results
In the parable of the talents, found in Matthew 25:14-30, the servants who focused their efforts on the talents given to them received rewards for their faithfulness. The servant who buried his talent out of fear and inaction was reprimanded for his failure to act. This parable reminds us that, like the servants, we are called to be good stewards of our time, skills, and resources.
By applying the Rule of 3, we focus our resources on the tasks that align with our gifts and goals. This allows us to multiply our efforts, just as the faithful servants multiplied their talents. Less is more when you invest your energy into what truly matters.
4. Strength and Perseverance
The apostle Paul encourages us in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” By following the Rule of 3, you will avoid burnout by narrowing your focus to the few key areas that need your attention each day. Perseverance in these tasks—rather than spreading yourself too thin—ensures you will finish strong and receive the reward of your diligent work.
By adopting the Rule of 3, you reflect the wisdom of focusing on what truly matters, while honoring the biblical principles of stewardship, prioritization, and perseverance.
Now, let’s end this lesson with a declaration of faith:
Father, I commit my work and my tasks to You today. I choose to focus on the three most important things that align with Your will for my life. I trust that as I prioritize my efforts, You will guide me and give me the strength to succeed. I believe that by Your grace, I will bear much fruit and bring glory to Your name. I receive Your wisdom, Your peace, and Your favor in everything I do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
May God bless your efforts as you walk in His purpose, focusing on what matters most each day.
