Trying Waits for Time, Training Makes Time
In the world of business and sales, we often hear people speak of “waiting for the right moment” or “hoping for the right time.” While patience is a virtue, the Bible teaches us that waiting without action is not the path to success. Instead, training and preparation are the keys to making time work for you. This lesson draws from Scripture to encourage believers to focus on intentional growth and learning rather than passive waiting.
1. Trying Waits for Time:
When we focus on trying without understanding the importance of training, we put ourselves in a position of relying on external circumstances or “waiting for the right time.” Trying can lead to frustration, as the outcome depends largely on chance rather than preparation.
James 1:4 (NIV) says, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
In business, trying without preparation often leads to uncertainty. It’s like setting sail without knowing the course. We are called to build a foundation of knowledge, not simply to wait around for the winds of fortune to blow us toward success.
2. Training Makes Time:
Unlike trying, training is active and intentional. Training prepares you, builds your skills, and sharpens your knowledge. It transforms your potential into progress. When you train, you not only improve your capacity but also shorten the time it takes to reach your goals.
Proverbs 22:29 (NIV) states, “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.”
Training is an investment that pays off. The more you prepare, the faster you will see results because training opens doors that waiting can never unlock. In business and in sales, the more you refine your skills, the quicker you can move forward, and the more you honor God with your work.
3. Time Is a Resource, Not an Enemy:
We must also remember that time is a precious resource. Rather than waiting for the “right moment,” we must use our time wisely, developing the necessary skills to be effective in our work.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV) says, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
God calls us to be stewards of our time. In business, this means that training and preparation are part of being faithful with what God has given us. When we choose to train, we are using time wisely, improving our ability to be effective in our work and multiplying the opportunities God provides.
Waiting for the right time can often lead to a cycle of inaction, but training helps us create the right time. God’s Word encourages us to be diligent in our efforts, trust in His timing, and honor Him with the work of our hands. Let us remember that through training, we don’t just wait for time to pass—we make time work for us, building skills, wisdom, and effectiveness that will ultimately bring glory to God.
Declaration:
I declare that I will not wait passively for the right moment but will be diligent in my training, trusting that God will equip me for every good work. As I invest in my growth, I will make time work for me, honoring God with my efforts. I believe that as I grow in skill and wisdom, doors of opportunity will open, and I will serve before those He has called me to influence. In Jesus' name, I walk by faith, knowing that He is making all things work together for my good.”
